3 Digital Marketing Trend Predictions for 2011
The digital marketing environment is always changing, as is the nature of the industry. If you intend on getting the best out of your digital marketing campaigns, it is important to at least be aware of any emerging trends, as these will definitely have a roll on effect to your business. A smart business person is always going to have one eye on whats going on around them, so that they can capitalise on any trends they may observe, as well as prepare themselves against any negative trends.
Being a digital marketing agency, there are three main trends we see and predict for the year 2011:
1. Social Media Use: businesses have stopped speculating the importance of social media networks and have accepted the value of jumping on board. Social Media platforms provide a way for businesses to make even more specific and targeted advertising campaigns through mediums such as Facebook and Twitter. Social Media is now being worked into advertising campaigns as a standard means of advertising.
2. Mobile and geo-location: it has been predicted that by 2012 mobile phone sales will eclipse PC sales (figures from Morgan Stanley). Campaigns can now be targeted specifically to locations determined by GPS tracking software on mobile phones. A great example of this is Swedish campaign Find the Mini; win the Mini – a simple but effective geo-locational campaign that combines geo-location, social networking and gaming. 3. Internet TV: In 2011 we’ll see wide scale adoption of internet TV services across a multitude of devices; TV, desktops, laptops, tablets, and smart phones. Users will be able to watch streaming video content on your TV while controlling it with a phone/tablet, contributing live to shows with layered contextual Tweeting, voting and interacting with TV Commercials.
